Hoochie Fishing Tip – Trailing Hook

Coho, and other salmon species, are well known for having short strikes.  One thing you can do to compensate for this is to have a trailing hook.

Rather than tying that second hook so it ends about where the hoochie ends, you add a couple of inches.

That way when a fish goes for the hoochie, if they miss they still have a chance of getting that trailing hook.

You can put the hook so it starts at the end of the hoochie (as pictured below), or even drop it back a couple of inches.
