Tackle

Cleaning your tackle

Scent on our tackle can be a powerful factor to attracting fish.  It can also scare off fish.  So it is important to make sure our tackle is free from scent. Some of the commercial scents can be really hard to get off, as they are meant to stay on the lure.

WD40

I’ve found that WD-40 does a great job.  Spray it on your lure, then wipe with it off with a towel.  Repeat if needed.

You’ll find that commercial scent will come right off.

Do this every time you are done fishing and putting away your gear.  It also can be a good idea to do it again when you are about to put the gear on, in case it picked up any scents while inside your tackle box.
